M.A.R.T.I.N (2012)
M.A.R.T.I.N stands for Mars Automobile Rover for Transportation and Investigatory Navigation. It's part of a landing module for a Mars mission that can be rebuilt to use as two roving vehicles on the surface of the planet. Each rover seats two astronauts and it's powered by electrical engines with steering on all four wheels with a high ground clearance for maximum maneuverability in tough terrain. The rover has an air lock that can be connected to the habitats placed on the planet. The air lock can also be removed and replaced by a suit lock, if the mission requires one astronaut to leave the rover for extra-vehicular-activity (EVA). This project was a collaboration between Lund University and NASA and is part of the Master Programme of Industrial Design.
